1962 Chevrolet Facts

"Bringing you a new world of worth"

"Jet Smooth Chevrolet"

"Nobody know enthusiasts as well as Chevrolet"

Chevrolet celebrates it's golden 50th anniversary in 1962 and the new models went on sale September 29, 1961. There's even a new paint color this year called, "Anniversary Gold" to celebrate this. This year also saw totally new sheetmetal design with the doors being the only exception. Cars were lenghtened just a touch from 209.3 to 209.6 for this year. Wheelbase remained at 119 inches.

Station wagons for 1962 would now be named as Biscayne, Belair or Impala and would no longer have their own unique model names such as Parkwook, Brookwood, and Nomad as they did in the past. Also, dropped this year was the 2 door sedan from the Impala line. The 2 door sedan was however still available in the Belair or Biscayne series.

This would be the last year for the 2 door sport coupe for the Belair line. Only 4 years had that optional body style and those were; 1958, 1960, 1961 and 1962.

Standard engines for 1962 were the 135hp 235 six cylinder or the 170hp 283 V-8. Optional engines included; 250hp 327, 300hp 327, 380hp 409 and the largest, the 409hp 409. (all of which were new for this year)
