I was just about to get drafted. I did eventually end up in Maryland for a bit courtesy of Uncle Sam.

Was finishing the Armys, ADVANCED INFANTRY TRAINING (ATI) at Tigerland in Ft. Polk, LA. First time I was west of the Mississippi river by the way. On my way back east to Ft. Benning, GA. to start NONCOMMISSIONED OFFICER CANDIDATE SCHOOL (NCOC) before Vietnam. At the ripe old age of 22.

P.S.
Just got back this evening from seeing "The Traveling Vietnam Wall". It's only 80 % the size of the real thing but it's sure hard on me :cry :cry :cry , seeing all those names and remembering.

40 years ago I was harrasing the grade school janitor on Friday nights. My brother and a friend of ours called it scaring the janitor. The grade school had I beam post that you could climb up and get on the roof (flat roof). All of the class rooms were separate buildings that were connected by breezeways. We would get on the roof and find were the janitor was and jump up and down on the roof until he would chase us.:rofl :rofl :rofl Oh what fun it was. We could cut across the roof and beat him every time. To get down we would jump down on the bicycle parking shed roofs and then to the ground and scurry away. Then listen to the janitor curse us like something else....:cuss :cuss :cuss :cuss::mad: What little hooligans we were...at the ripe old age of 11.:evil :evil
