After 31 years, my lovely bride is leaving the class room today. She just couldn't get past 4th grade after all these years so she is calling it quits!! She dismissed her last group of kids yesterday and today is her last "in service" day.
31 years seems like a long time but she is excited about this new chapter in our lives!! Lots of books to read, grandkids to pamper, probably volunteering in some classrooms, and seeing old friends more often. Me, the way I see it.............MORE ROAD TRIPS!!!!!!:rofl :rofl :rofl Both in the dually (I noticed on eBay that somebody in Texas has a set of valve covers for sale!! See...I missed something!!) and on the Harleys!!! Summers were always fun but I'll need to keep her busy in August when all the other teachers are going back into the classrooms. That's what she will miss the most.
Think I'll buy her a dirty gin martini tonight!!!!:bow :bow :bow :bow She's a great lady!!!!

Am sad to hear of this development. My wife and I think the World of Candy. I'm sure the only reason Candy stayed at one job for 31 years was to have time away from Phil. Now she will be forced to spend way too much time with her husband. I hope she has many hobbies she can invest time in. Congratualtions on retirement Candy, We wish you a happy future. :cheers :cheers

I gotta agree with dq, Phil (I know that's unusual). Clean gin is the least you can do.
Give her my congratulations too! :clap :clap

Congratulations to Candy and her 31 years of dedication to the kids of Kansas but, I want to know just how many of those kids got educated on the the 409 and, how many scouts Phil recruited for scrounging parts...:rofl :rofl :rofl... Now the picture is clear...one classroom a year for 31 years...Man thats a lot of kids...

Best wishes for Candy in her retirement, I am sure the school system will miss her, as well as future students :). Make sure to keep her very distracted those first few days that her former colleagues return to the classroom, maybe a trip to Alaska on the Harleys?
Cheers!

...anything else would start to sound envious! It's great to see others reaching a goal that you have been working toward for so long.
I'm not too far behind...

Our congratulations to Candy on her retirement after 31 years. :bow :bow :cheers
What a coincidence.....Bonnie retired yesterday after 33 years with the US Postal Service. :clap :clap Phil, Make sure you keep mailing those letters.......that will keep supporting our retirement checks:rofl :rofl The reason Postal rates went up is that they had to hire 3 people to do what Bonnie did by herself. Sorry guys:rofl :rofl With Bonnie's retirement, I do have a new worry. Now she has free time to practice her hole shots on the practice tree which means she'll probably spank me good at the dragstrip.
Best wishes on this new and exciting chapter of your lives!!!!

Though I'm very new around here and haven't met any of you in person,I'd like to add my congratulations as well. 31 years is a very long time to be at one job.....my wife has been a nurse at the same retirement home for 31 years.I had full intentions of becoming a teacher out of high school but after working as a carpenter that Summer.....I decided to start my own business instead....been pounding nails ever since. Still think about how much less my bones/joints would ache if I'd followed my original plan :doh

Phil and Tony:
Congratulations to your "better halfs" on their dedication to their vocations and hope they enjoy creating lists for you two to complete. I am sure their replacements won't be as dedicated or disciplined in the vocation. Ann is having too much fun traveling around North America to retire. Says she enjoys leaving me lists and taking off flying somewhere!!!!
Actually that is how I am able to attend the Hot Rod Reunion(she's going offshore that week)
If you all are traveling(Delmar or Cecil County strips or the Ocean Cityresort) on the Easter Shore stop by. Call first 'cause we are way back in the country!!

Congratulations Candy! My wife works with the school, only office work and when she drives the 58 to work she has all the boys come and make comments about what a cool lady she is. I'm sure when you rode the Harley to work you were the Queen of the school. I have been retired for about 3 years and I will tell you that you will soon wonder how you had any time to work. You will fill the days with things that you always wanted to do. So send Phil off to the shop and have a ball.:rofl :rofl Roy

Now that Mrs. Phil no longer has a bunch of young "skulls full of mush" to instruct she will now have time to devote her full attention to instructing Mr. Phil. :brow
:rofl
Congratulations on your retirement. :cheers Now you can join the rest of us that wonder how we ever found time to work. :scratch :coffee:
