Has anyone installed a set of the Show-cars rear-dump exhaust manifolds? Any comments regarding fit and quality?

Yea, I bought a set last year and was extremely happy with the quality and fit. As good or better than NOS. Although, I heard they changed suppliers and someone else is making them for Show Cars now

This would make a great addition to our product review page. (hint, hint) ;)

A friend of mine was talking to Bruce at Showcars and he told him that he has lost his relationship with the casting company on those manifolds and has been trying to find someone else to cast these!? This is second hand info so I would check with Bruce for the details. :dunno

All the people that I have spoke with say they are very nice. The only problem is getting them. I was going to get some last fall but decided to spend the money elsewhere, rather than wait for the end of the world.

I called Show Cars and asked for Bruce. We are currently playing phone tag. I did talk to a gentleman there... that offered a general opinion similar to w ogden's post. However, they would call me back with a more definate answer to the supply/backorder situation for this product.

Thanks to all here for your replies.

I was hoping to get the 690 heads and 2X4 intake on the 62' this month but would have liked to match them with the rear-dump, factory style high-performance exhaust manifolds. I suppose it would be OK to put the 348 2.0" exhausts on until something turns up.

The 62 had the 2 1/2 manifolds with the center dump like your 2 inch manifolds you are putting on now. the rear dump were 63 64 and on a dealer package at the end of 62 but I dont think they were factory for 62

Much discussion about that around here. My car is May 1962. So you are suggesting centre dump for this time period...?...Yes?

I have a Hot Rod article on the 409 changes for 62 that states the new manifolds were part of a service package in April of 62 and that it would probably be regular production by early summer of that year so its not a sure thing. Being born in 62 I can only go by reading and reserch in magazines parts books and word of mouth from freinds who raced and messed around with Chevys of the time. It would be nice to have someone who worked on them at the time or a chevy dealer or shopworker and remembers exact dates or has notes from working on them to be more definative.
