Got a rebuilt 425 hp 409, was rebuilt in arizona before i got it, was never ran till i got it, i started it got about 30 miles on it , but has none to very little oil to push rods/ rockers??? any ideas, i thought maybe cam brg? but would like to try somthing so i dont have to pull eng out, another 409 guro told me to ck aftermarket dist(mallory) i modified dist still no oil up to rockers, ????? Tim

Sorry Tim, 99% of the time it is rear cam bearing installed incorrectly. A common problem when the machine shop is not experienced with w-head engines. Gotta pull it out.

Ronnie is right, The rear cam bearing on a W engine is unique from all other engines. I would bet a ton of money on Ronnie's advice. Sometimes you've got to bite the bullet and do what you don't want to do. You will save a ton of money in the long run. At least you have the comfort knowing that you were not the one who messed up, you are just the one to clean it up.:cuss Roy

Is the groove in the distributor shaft all the way around? If not, it has to be indexed so as to send oil to both lifter galleys. If the groove is all the way around, it is likely the bearing installed wrong.

The groove was not all the way around but now is, so i will be pulling eng to get at rear cam brg , Thank,s Tim
