Unusual 348

There is an interesting 348 now on E-Bay, #200120516939. It is an 011 block with casting bulges for the watercooled spark, but it has the 791 heads without water cooled spark. Guess this would be an example where the holes were not machined in the block?

More likely they were welded. I believe all 011 blocks had the holes. I believe it was the 872 that had the waterjacket provisions but not drilled so it could be used either way.

Interesting combinations were probably done all the time back in the day. I once found an early 348 block that had 690 heads on it, welded up the heads to fit the early block. Who would do that now?
