Looking for 4 16-124 afb metering rods for 3361-2 carb setup. I'm putting together a 409 for my 62 Belair Sport Coupe to run in the Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Races here in Michigan. Or does anyone know if someone can machine a set? Thank Dave

16-124 (.069 X .0635) AFB must be a usable Edlebrock.

rocketman, The .063x.069 rods are correct for stock 3361 or 3362 Carter. I'm going from memory here, but I think that is correct. I have some .071x.058 rods you are welcome to. A hair leaner on cruise mode , a little richer on high speed mode. ( Using the .101 std jet ) The real gain would be made by increasing the small .0635 secondary jet to a .074 to .077 jet. Probably got them too it you need them.

Thanks guys, the 3361-2 carbs I have have 16-126 rods .068 x .055. So it looks like if your dia. is +- say .003 its not super critical is that correct? I've never messed with afbs and metering rods. Thanks Ronnie I'll get with you if I can use jets or rods. I guess I'll start with what the 348-409 chevy musclecar & hi-po engines book said the guys in the day used drag racing, 16-124 or close, .104 primary, .074 secondary and go from there. Dave

rocketman, If you use .104 jets, the .055 rod is way too rich. The suggestion you are reading is a way to richen up primaries one step. .104 jet with a .063 rod, ( stock rod ) By using a .104 jet and a .055 rod , you will be very rich, too rich, at least in my opinion. You would be much better off by using a .101 jet and the .055 rod. I would guess this to be two stages rich. .003 is a lot when talking about metering rods. I would suggest the .101 jets with .071x.058 rods.

There is a strip kit available with all kinds of rods and jets. I think it was made by carter or edelbrock or ? Can't remember. :scratch Cost about $45 or so. I saw them in Summit's catalog a while back.

Thanks guys just what I need to know, cause I don't know a thing about AFB jetting and metering rods. Thanks again for sharing your experience. Dave
