After 16 months of buying, cleaning and well, you know the story, I cranked my 63 last night and it moved under its own power.

Only one problem so far. Mitch the mechanic had to run a +12 volt wire from the alternator over to the + on the coil to make it go. We also have the wire from the distributor and the natural soft covered wire from the wire harness on that connection. This is putting 12+ on the coil all the time.

What do you think is my problem.

Bob: Check the two wire harness plugs, that are plugged into the firewall. Make sure the contacts are good and clean, and not corroded. The one plug supplys all the power to the engine, and the other takes care of the headlights, directionals, etc. Skip:)

That makes sense, we have been having trouble with the plug nearest the engine already.
We could not get juice to the interior. Finally, in my un-scientific way, I said, I'll turn on the heater blower, then we wil know when we have juice, and have found the problem.
So these two plugs probably should be cleaned well and checked for corrosion. Will they just pull out of the firewall?

Bob, Yep, they just pull out. There is a plastic retainer nub at top and bottom. Unfortunately though, they are very fragile because of their age. Disconnect battery and use little screwdrivers to gently pry out while pushing on the little retainer nubs.
