The one I looked at a while back- checked out the owner a bit more and the engine shop- decided to go ahead and buy it. Its a 63 340 HP rebuilt stock- other than a 30 over bore.
Plan to put it in the 59 El Camino as soon as I get what I need to make the change from a 283.
I guess I have joined an exclusive club and will now have to be correcting people who call it a big block.
From what I hear, I should probably upgrade the little gas tank as part of the deal.
I'll be asking lots of questions.

what engine shop did the motor and where did you buy the motor if you don't mind my asking? I'm kinda nosing around at buying one myself but can't find any to look at

Great! I have a 348 in my '59 elky. As far as upgrading, for sure you'll need to upgrade the fuel line to 3/8". The fuel tank is our call. Isn't 16 gallons enough? :)

I bought it here in Nova Scotia, a local machine shop did the work.
