Is it possible? The ones I have are just the cheapy Harbor Freight ones but I think they said they were titanium coated.

They worked great for quite some time but was using them hard lately and they lost their cutting ability.

If anyone knows the secret, lets hear it. :brow

Bob,
Check the new Drill Doctor. I think they will sharpen them, as they say they will sharpen split point drills. If that is the same thing (step point & split point)? Also different types of metals bits.

Yes, it's possible. Even on a "step" drill bit. I do this all the time, by hand,
on my bench grinder. It's a learned skill. I don't know how to instruct you
properly here. I'd have to "show" you.

I also hand grind 5/16" drill bits to drill out factory spot welds when I'm
removing sheetmetal panels. I grind it so it's flat across the cutting tip,
and leave a slight point in the middle to pre-spot the weld area. Works
great! :brow

Step drills can be sharpened easily and accurately on the tool/cutter grinding machine. Larger machine shops usually have one. Jim

Yeah, I'll probably just buy new ones. For that price, it's not worth the hassle.

Thanks guys. :cheers
