My 03 1/2 ton Yukon has an L60E Transmission I think. The cable to the transmission attaches at a bracket assembly on the drivers side of the transmission. There is no way to get the transmission pan off with this cable and bracket assembly there.:bang :bang Is there a "trick" in removing the bracket and cable to get the pan off. I wish I had access to Mitchell or one of the other computer tech sites

Robert-

I have Mitchell OnDemand5 and looked it up. It does not show what you are running into. It just says to remove the pan bolts and the pan will come down. I have an 04 Yukon and will go out and check. I'll let you know what mine looks like.

ok, I looked on mine and it had the bracket you are speaking about. Mitchell did not show it on the 4L60-E, but it did on the 4L80-E. There are two bolts (does not say what size, but appear to be torx or allen on mine) which hold it on. The bolt down from the top of the bracket. I have attached a pic for your reference.

I think that is the bracket. Does it look like to you that the cable that i am assuming is from the shifter have to be detached some how or just remove those two bolts.
Thanks in advance for the help.:beerbang

Robert-

Here is the procedure from Mitchell. I will also provide a link to download the entire section from mitchell. I just need to get it uploaded.

Brian

1. Raise and support vehicle.
2. Place a drain pan under the transmission oil pan.
3. Remove oil drain plug, if equipped.
4. If necessary, remove the bolts and position aside the range selector cable bracket for clearance while
lowering the pan. It is not necessary to remove the cable from the lever or bracket.
5. Remove the oil pan bolts from the front and sides of the pan only.
NOTE: A small amount of friction material in pan bottom is a normal condition,
but large pieces and or metal particles will require complete transmission
overhaul.
6. Loosen the rear oil pan bolts approximately 4 turns.
7. Lightly tap the oil pan with a rubber mallet in order to loosen the pan to allow the fluid to drain.
8. Remove the remaining oil pan bolts. See Fig. 2 .
9. Remove the oil pan and the gasket. See Fig. 3 .
10. Grasp firmly while pulling down with a twisting motion in order to remove the filter. See Fig. 4 .
11. Remove and discard the filter seal. The filter seal may be stuck in the pump; if necessary, carefully use
pliers or another suitable tool to remove the seal. See Fig. 5 .
12. Inspect the fluid color.
13. Inspect the filter. Pry the metal crimping away from the top of the filter and pull apart. The filter may
contain clutch material, bronze slivers indicating bushing wear or steel particles.
14. Clean the transmission case and the oil pan gasket surfaces with solvent, and air dry. You must remove
all traces of the old gasket material.

Application Refill - Qts. (L) Dry Fill - Qts. (L)
4L60-E & 4L65-E 5.0 (4.7) 11.2 (10.6)
CAUTION: When the transmission is at operating temperatures, take necessary
precautions when removing the drain plug, to avoid being burned by
draining fluid.

Brian...Thanks for the details. I am surprised that the bracket and cables are removed as one. I was thinking it had to come apart and the bracket removed by itself like your drawing showed(bracket only)
Looks like another trip under the Yukon for me.
