This past weekend about 8 or 10 cars from my home town (Richmond, Va.) decided we would travel to Lynchburg, Va. to a cruise-in that is held once a month. It was a nice cruise-in with many many cars. I don't drive my cars much and this was about 150 miles each way but the weather was great so I decided to drive my '63 409. Of course any time a strange car shows up and being a 409, it will draw a crowd. So....I'm standing there beside the car talking to people and this guy walks up, he looks to be in his late teens, got his hat turned around back'ards and his pants down around knees...he looks my car over pretty close and says to me; "does this car have hydralic's". With out thinking, I said; "naw it's got solids".
The kid just kinda looked at me with a blank look and walked off. Guess I was having a sr. moment, it was a minute or so before I realized what he was talking about and I doubt if he ever figured out what I said.

I was really happy with the way my car did on the trip, my car is a 425 with 370 gears, we drove along about 60 mph and the thing got 15 mpg which I thought was really good. Of course I had to get in it once just to change the gas in the front carb.!!!!

The down side of it was I spent most of the day yesterday with it on jack stands cleaning it !!!!!!

That is priceless Tommy!!!!!!!!!!!!:rofl :rofl :rofl I'll bet he is still scratchin' his head!!!!

Had a customer here in KC with a 474 and a Pete Jackson gear drive. Pulled up to a Carquest store and the local kids were wanting to know what that noise was. Gene said it was just a blower!!!! They didn't know any better!!!

Do any of you guys have trouble merging onto the freeway like I do, at the end of the on ramp I usually have to hit the brakes hard, the traffic is only going about 70 or 75 and I'm already hitting 90 or 95, they really need to address this issue with the governator at the next state assembly. And yes i do drain the front carb merging, doesn't everybody with a 425/409?
