Well gang, I can finally can say that I have a 12 second street car. Went to test and tune today. Excellent conditions for making some serious horsepower. Low 50's for temp, a 30.02 barometer, and humidity at 47%. Density of altitude just 3 feet. And man did she pull hard at the top end. I did the same as last time. Drove to the track, unloaded unneeded stuff. checked tire pressure and went to the line. Three 13.0 runs later. I let the car cool real good this time. Hit the line at 140 water temp, and the rest is history. Remember this is through the mufflers on street tires. No trick stuff. It's tough to see but it says 12.767 @ 107.88. The 60 foot is 1.938. Eigth mile et 8.218 @ 87.74. So can you tell that I'm happy? :D

Good runs. Open exhaust, and go 12.50????? Slicks. 12.0s????

Did 11.98 in 65 on 7" slicks. You can do it.

Hey Don... my apology for the late response ( hhmmm... maybe I was jealous;) )

Just scream'n , man :cheers :D

Big speed. I'm sure your wagon with you in it, has to be near 4400 pounds.
HUGE horsepower !
Maybe a little tweaking... set it up for a legal NHRA Stock Eliminator ? :deal :p
Set of slicks and you're probably near the 11's.

DQ,

I was planning on coming out your way this X-mas. My daughter lives in Portland. But now that I'm not sure if I will have a job much longer, those plans are in limbo. I would love to come out and tune your car. If not this X-mas I should see you at the "W" convention in 2004.

Don-

The real question is; with ESTA's track surface, how'd you keep the car on the road? :)

Can you say WaShBoArDiNg? :)

If you're free Don, I'm going to have my '63, a Chevelle, a Nova, a Mopar, and (Ick!, but quick) a friend's 11-sec Honda at NYIRP in Leicester this weekend, Sunday....

Congrats, that's some serious speed out of one of these cars.. I'm hoping for low 13's from mine. If you're free bring it down!

First weekend back in NY, in 2+ months, and I'm going drag racing.. I love Indian Summer... :)

Just to let you know, the weather does vary a bit in mid Missouri during this period. Everyday the temp can swing a bit in either direction. Thursday it was a balmy 78 degrees :) Friday night we went to a local football game (high school) and I bet it dropped into the 50s by late evening (not too bad as far as football weather goes). Today the high will be 60, but tomorrow 74 degrees!

All this data is to entice you Northerners to Kansas City next year, or rather 11 months from now, when the weather is even nicer :) Looks kinda cold where many of you guys are. I like the warmer climates with sunshine, as I prefer outside work to inside work. Outside work for me means a wireless laptop out on the back deck :)

Cheers,
TomK

64ss409-

I'll be it's really quiet where you live. And not polluted. I think it's beautiful and I envy you.

Michael

Yes it is quiet here and the air is usually clean. There are a few disadvantages, like no Hooters in the state.:( :) But there are advantages. I can see 7 different mountain ranges all within 80 miles or less. Good hunting and fishing. The house is never locked unless we leave for 2 days or more and all the vehicles in the yard always have the keys left in the ignition.

One concern right now is, can I get the crop seeded before the 3rd week in Sept and make it to K.C.?? We will have to see if the weather cooperates, and if the car runs good enough, and if I can get it painted, and, and.............

You have 10 months to plan for seeding [if the weather cooperates] and it doesn't matter if the car is painted. JUST BE THERE!:D Roy
