Well, Into the third day of visiting with Don "the tuner" DeWeaver and having a blast !!!!
Last night we went over to Chip`s house, or should I say garage as we never made it to the house, to introduce Don to Chip and the blown 55.
Talking bench racing and one or two beers and the hours flew by.
It took a visit from an east coast friend to finally get a ride in the 55!!!
WOW,, what a ride !!!
both don and I had smiles pasted on our ugly mugs the rest of the night !!:D :bow
Chip and Don are both great guys so the night was a blast looking at all the toys and shooting the bull.
You guys back east might loose one to us out here on the left coast as Don love the area !! not kidding !!
I`ll post more later and Im sure Don will have plenty of good stories,,
I might even get him on my other hog today and go for a ride.
,,dq
ps, Don have more and better pictures as my batteries died in my camera

Hi All,
Let me say I had a fantastic time in Portland. The main reason I went is for my daughter's graduation, But also being able to see Jim was an added bonus. As many of you know, Jim and I have been friends for sometime. He is a very special person. Anybody that ever gets a chance to go to Portland for anything make sure you look him up. Well let me tell you the people of Portland are very friendly. They treat you like you have known them for forever. The short bike ride that Jim and I were suppose to go on turned out to be about a five hour ride on the best roads I have ever ridden on. I wish I had those back east. And then there is Chip. He has one of the nicest 55's I have ever seen. To ride in it is FANTASTIC. This car puts you right against the seat back. It pulls really, really hard. What a ride. We also BSed for hours. Also saw his gun collection. Whatever you have heard about the humidity is true. I rented a new Mustang there and hardly used the air conditioning. Absolutely fabulous weather. I will post some pictures as soon as my wife finds them. New camera still learning it.

Wow, here it is almost a week later and I just found this thread. I've been spending mondo time on theturboforums.com researching my future project. Well let me say it was great having Jim and Don over for a BS and bench racing session and a few cold ones, You guys are wecome back any time.
Update on the 55, this summer it went 10.77 on pump gas and still with the 3.08 rear, ET M/T street radials and it cruises home at 2500 rpm @ 65mph and 16" vacuum. Next year maybe I'll try the 3.90 spool.
The 64 Chevelle in Jims post has a pump gas 355 sbc, forged flat top pistons(.035 quench), comp. ratio 10.6, cast crank, AFR 195 heads, solid roller cam 236-244@.050&.600 lift,Edelbrock air gap duel plane with a Demon 750DP with no mods. Rear is a 4.10 12 bolt, trans is turbo 400 with 3500 stall. The car weights about 3600lbs with me in it. I was expecting to go mid to high 12's, so I was astounded when it went 12.11 @ 111.57(shifting at 6000-6200) on it's only full pass before I lost 3rd gear.
Tomorrow I'm leaving for the Nascar Race at Fontana so If the camera pans the stands across from the pits about half way up I'll be wavin at ya.

10.77 with a 3.08 gear. That blows my mind. That is wild. Can't wait to hear about the 3.90. No, changed my mind, more impressive , " as is ". What a 409.!!!!
