Thanks to this Website and all who sent birthday wishes on the 28th!!!!

I have a 1963 Impala with a 409/425 and need to drop my oil pan to fix a bad oil leak! Can anyone tell me how to do so WITHOUT pulling the engine???? There seems to be no way since I can't clear the crank before running into the frame to slide it back and out???? Thanks so much......

WM, models916 did that job a few months ago. He would gladly give you some tips. Engine has to be rotated just right to release the pan. I have never tackled that one but models can help.

I had the same problem about 2 years ago, ended up deciding to remove the engine from the bay. Now I know that it is possible to slip the pan out while still in the engine bay, but it's a pretty close fit.

Hey, I live nearby in Columbia, MO. We should figure out how to get together sometime!

Best,
TomK

Needs to be lifted about 10" to get it off. I posted pics last year when I had to add the missing rubber pieces to the rear main.
