Another obviously untouched example of an 068 block with the 3rd and 4th digits ground off and stamped .:p

And it appears to be a truck block to boot! First time I've seen an 068 truck blcok with the "grind" done. Am I missing something?
Hey, that doesn't seem that far away from me....

Tom,
I think the casting dates on most if not all these stamped blocks I have seen were on or near the same date. When they made the mistake on the casting numbers placed in the mold it was on the inside and would not show up until the new castings were broken out of the sand. When they assembled a mold for a days casting they probably poured a number of blocks which would all have the same erroneous number. :scratch

As Cecil mentioned, these blocks seem to have the date "K 25 61" in common. Note that this was a Saturday late in November 1961.
Hangover?
Thanksgiving weekend?

Must be the same guy working in the foundry that miscast the 61 409 blocks in November 60. I think he had a problem with Novembers.:scratch

Did they rally make truck motors for 1961 or is that just an early 62? Bob
