Hey dt, my choice wasnt on the poll. I Havnt yet bought or sold anything on Ebay yet. BUT, I REALLY want to sell some things. I am waiting for my brother to get his credit card (should be soon). I am kinda leary about buying but I do need to sell some things to help fund the cars. Half tempted to sell my truck on Ebay, but might just try to sell locally or at Iola.

Im in the same boat Carl. Without a credit card, you can't sell on ebay. :( Im a cash kind a guy. :)

I bought alot and only had a bit of trouble with some 63 parts. The person said no rust... Maybe "no" means "all" to some people.

ebay is a gamble. It could be good or bad.

Can't sell on ebay without a credit card? I've never had a credit card acct on ebay. I always just send a money order to them to pay my acct charges. Maybe it's changed and us old users are grandfathered. I've been there since a short time after startup. My wife STILL complains about me declining a 5K stock investment there when they went public. At one point that 5K would have made enough to do a 40K restoration on my 62. Sigh....

I am in the process of starting another venture, sales of parts left over at speed shops, via internet, E-bay type situation. What I will do, is offer old parts that do not sell sitting in speed shops for years, manifolds, headers, heads, all kinds of used/useable stuff just sitting around.

At this time, I haven't used E-bay for anything, but they may just end up being the nescessary evil to get the parts seen. I really am apprehensive on this E-bay deal, as there have been sooooo many horror stories about E-bay itself, and unscrupulous sellers (of which, I don't intend to be one).

I'm just thinking on doing a separate web site for all these parts, and not even coming close to E-bay.

Anybody got more ideas?

EBAY is the way to sell and get your stuff seen.
I like selling my stuff on Ebay.
Leary about buying, but have had positive experiences both ways.

I do both... buy and sell ( about 65/35 % ).
I have only been really disappointed with one purchase I made, and that was due mostly to my lack of knowledge.
With the exception of the incredibly EXCESSIVE shipping by some sellers, ( one guy was trying to charge me $58 to ship a 10 pound aluminum intake... I checked.... it was $22.95 ! )
Other than that, I think it's great fun, and sometimes do it just for the sport !:cheers

Hey Ignition Man why don't you list those parts that could be used by us on this site? By the way I'm still interested in one of your distributors, just waiting until I can save up the money. :) Roy

The one shop I have spoken with doesn't have any W engine parts, so...

It's mostly stuff like Pontiac and Olds, Ford manifolds, boat headers, flywheels for strange stuff, etc.

I have been looking for a digital camera and just checked on the Toshiba PDR-M25 on ebay like bmac mentioned. I am just finding refurbs. Is a refurb OK? I kinda like the sound of "new" better, but if a refurbished camera is OK, the price seems pretty good.

A refurb can be a repaired (as in it got past QC) or someone broke it when they bought it. You never know just what was broken. It can also be a return for something as simple as missing parts or docs, or the buyer simply couldn't figure out how to point and shoot (my boss).

The law has provisions so that:

A return for a problem cannot be repackaged and sold as new.

A return for digitally dumb buyer or 'simply didn't like it' can be resold as new.

Of course, Fry's and Best Buy have a different views. They resell stuff as new all the time. RE: HD's with someones OS already installed but screwed up. I went back to BB with a scanner three times in two days and ALL were repackaged defective products STILL on display being sold as new. They banned me from the store after robbing me of $150.00 cash.

It boils down to 'know the seller' and use the plastic that gets your money back. :deal Good luck!

As for ebay. I've been burnt three times. The first was a CD game seller that was sending empty pastic cases. The second was a buyer who never emailed me. The third was a seller that decided he wanted more than my bid and relisted it anyway. :cuss

That's not bad out of nearly 250 deals total.

Ron,

Mine was a Christmas gift from my parents and they got it from QVC. (the shopping channel) It was about $175+ Came close to $190 or so with shipping, etc. You might check with them if this is the camera your set on. They have a website. Not sure of the URL but probably qvc.com????

I had a problem with it once. I bought an AC adaptor at Walmart for it and it fried it! (turns out the company that sells that adaptor is frying alot of equipment with their junk!)

Rather than join the long list of people fighting to get their camera's repaired or replace by that half a$$ed outfit, I returned mine to QVC and played dumb pretending it just stopped working. (I know it's dishonest but...) They sent me a brand new one right away. :evil

Wish I could have made the real culprit pay but I'd probably still be battling that one. :cuss

One thing I will recommend for anyone that has a digital camera...buy yourself a battery charger and the rechargeable batteries. Yes, they are expensive but can be recharged about 3-5 hundred times! These camera's eat batteries! And I will never trust another adapter for the reasons above.

It's so nice not having to buy film, take it to be developed, then wait and hope the pics come out. Once you have one of these camera's, you'll never look back! LOL ;)

Hmm Ebay,

Lots of good experiences here but I am in progress of being ripped off on a NOS power steering hose for my 65.... I guess I also got ripped on a set of headers for my 66 396 Impala(shorties) but I should have expected that very cheap, untreated, and shipped without any packaging.... Other than that it has been great.... Cant wait to figure out the whole selling thing so that I can unload my excess 58, 65, and 66 chevy parts.... The garage just is losing far too much space.... Good luck to all....

Ron,

I got mine for 159 plus 16 shipping. It included the 32 meg card and the rechargable batteries and charger. All in all a good deal, I thought. Mine was refubished as well with a 30 day so I snapped some photos and installed/uploaded pictures just to make sure it all worked.

Now I just hope it continues to work. bob

btw: were you at the bass auction? I did go.

Aside on the auction, they sold a 4 door 58 biscayne with a running 348 good body/interior and chrome for 2250. Seemed like a really good deal to me.

They also had a 63 409 impala without the trans and engine.

Bob

Thanks for the camera info. I have been looking at that model on ebay. I have bid a few times but have not been lucky yet.

I was at the auction too. I had the car trailer, just in case. I was interested in the 58 and also the 63 409 car, but kept my hands in my pockets.
