I got 7 5/8" between carbs, but it's 6:30 Saturday morning and I haven't had coffee yet :). Carbs are not Edelbrock's if that makes a difference. They are AFBs.
Distance to firewall is about 5 miles, as the car is out at the farm and the engine down the basement :) :) :).
I'm sure that's not very helpful, but it shows my sense of humor!
Don't share the chrome bill with your wife, you know the drill :).
Good luck!

I can measure mine. I have edelbrock's on mine(if it makes a difference) The car is in the Ocean City Show for the weekend but I plan on going over to "visit it" this afternoon. I should be able to get all of the measurements you need. I'll PM you with my cell # because I have a firewall question.

I visited the car yesterday and the measurement from the stud on the rear carb to the firewall is 9 inches. But..... There is a little dimple on my firewall over the tunnel and on each side of that is a protruding welded seam that might not be on yours. To be safe don't build the air cleaner longer then approximately 7 inches rearward and you will be away from that area as it is in line with the carb air cleaner base area.
