Saw these at the show today. For the money on street engines, I don't see how you can go wrong. No combustion chamber here!

Intake looks to be much improved over the factory version. Even the PCV is an improvement.
58 gasser just for the heck of it.

Obviously, Lamar was mistaken when he told me there was a combustion chamber.
As I mentioned in the other thread... these heads DO look very good:brow

Any flow numbers? Have they put an engine with these new parts on the dyno? Or are they leaving that for MuscleCarTV?

This closer look, picture shows that a right angle pcv valve may fit under the coil. Not sure though. Skip

The combustion chamber looks pretty similar to the ones on the factory heads. I would expect that they'd flow more than the factory heads. I guess we'll find out soon enough.:dunno
Last week on that Muscle Car show they mentioned they were waiting for their 500 plus horsepower 409 stroker with these heads. Of course that doesn't prove much because we all know you can make 500 plus horsepower with factory high perf heads.
My guess is that these will be good heads but it's unfortunate for Bob Walla that they're coming out right now. They're certain to cut into a market that's already fairly small. One thing Bob's got going for himself is that his castings were designed to be able to be used for raised port heads. Maybe with all these new high flowing heads floating around there'll be a larger market for his new big cubic inch blocks.

I also saw these on Sunday and they looked pretty nice. Smitty said he would call me in the next week to ten days with flow numbers. We will be doing a CNC ported version of this head in the next few weeks.

Charlie:
How much hassle is it to put stellite seats in a set of 690 heads, I am concerned with valve recession and the gass that is available today?

Hi Jim,
It is no problem at all to do that operation. We us a Mar-tite seat and it is great for the no-lead fuel but is also easy on the valves. It run 155.00 to install then and includes the seats. You will also need to valve job the heads and that runs 250.00 for our Sportsman Valve Job witch includes a five angle cut on the intake seat, and radius cut on the exhaust, bowl blend the heads and back cut the valves. Let me know if i can answer any other questions.
Thanks

This 409 is a fresh rebuild that has never been started, but I am getting close to that point and do not want to do ANYTHING to destroy this motor, hence my question. I will think about this and let you know what I decide to do. I do know the heads do not have hard seats in them aand this is going to be the motor in my road car. (1935 chevy streetrod).

Big Jim:
Do you have any pics yet of the 409 in your 35? I'd like to see the engine compartment-I have a couple of 30's Chevys.
