I have a 65 impala 409 which one of the previous owners updated with an 881 dual quad manifold and edelbrock 1405 carbs. I am just finishing rebuilding the carbs and realize (since nothing connected to the carbs) the previous owner disconnected the PCV system and I have an open hole (and a fair amount of grime) in the back of the block. Looking at the 65 assembly manual, I don't see a pcv valve, just a tube running from the back of the block to the air cleaner (with an arrester) and then a hose going from the oil filler tube to the carb vacuum fitting. I'm assuming I should make it look like the PCV system on a 64 dual quad set-up. What do you think? Is this as simple as putting a PCV valve in the back of the block, running a hose to the rear carb and making sure I have a good breather oil cap?

Here's how I did it on a couple of engines. I used a baffled grommet that Mr. Gasket sells. Fit great.

I think most of us run this setup. I would suggest running the hose to the rear of the front carb though. You get better oil vapor distribution that way as your more towards the center of the intake.
