:) Riverside Motorsports Park will be hosting a Racers Night Dec. 2 at the Atwater Commnuity Center, 760 East Bellevue Road in Atwater Calif, phone 209 357 6320. This is for racers and all those involved in the sport. There will be food and drinks followed by a presentation outlining the plans and the current status and timeline. A new track in this area deserves all of our support, hope to see many there.

I know where that is, both my shops used to be in Merced, next town over.
If this new racetrack is scheduled to be in Merced County, don't even get one hope up for its approval. When I lived there, a group of us tried for over 15 years to put a racing facility, with oval, drags, motocross and other functions in, and EVERY time we went to the county supervisors, all they did was hook a thumb in a front pocket and pull it open, then say "put five grand in there and I'll give you my opinion on your idea", and it stopped dead with any and all suggestions, ideas and attempts to bypass them.
If it's on the old Castle Air Force Base runway, it ain't gonna happen either, as the base re-development agency is full of pals of the county supervisors, and they want that land for more houses, etc.
Good luck.

Drove down to Atwater Tuesday night to attend a presentation on the proposed new raceway. It was a standing room only turnout, and the group has many insightful ideas for this multi-purpose facility. They own 1300 acres, are half way through the enviormental BS, and looking for a Feb 2004 vote by the supervisors of the area. You can check out their plans and people involved at www.rmpracing.com I may just have to dust off my
Z-34 coupe if this thing is a go.

Goooood luck with it. I see it's in the Castle Air Force Base redevelopment area, and there are many residents adjacent to there, to cause issues about congestion and noise.
I sure hope all the old county stupidvisors are either gone from Merced County, or dead by now, because they'll never pass this measure in the voting meeting in 2004, unless their pockets are very well greased.
Like I said, this has been exactly the same kind of project that couldn't get done in the past, but ours had larger road racing courses than what is posted on the site. Hope those people get it done, but...knowing Merced like I do, not realistic with the people in charge there.
