while building the racecar, i always knew i would need to set the suspension springs with scales. well, it's about time i brought the 4 wheel scales home and checked this car. after some spring jacking, the results are good.
first i stood on one of the scales and got 210
then sat on scale and got 175. so 175 worth of barbells went in seat and the remaining 35 on floor in front of seat. surprising what happens to the weights on each tire when you simulate the driver.
as built and raced a few times: (notice the weights are all over the place)
LF 879 RF 830
LR 930 RR 836
total w/ driver 3475 lbs.

moved the left battery to the right side, set the 4 corner springs and double checked the pre-load on 4 link bar and anti-roll bar. here are the results:

LF 856 RF 845
LR 889 RR 886

rear axle weight :1775 (51.1%)
frt axle weight: 1701 (48.9%)

rt side: 1731 (49.8%)
lft side: 1745 (50.2%)

dang near perfectly balanced in every direction now. well worth the time and i would recommend the same treatment for any other car with adjustable springs.

strangely enough, the dragstrip scale had me at 3315?
these scales are made by longacre and i trust them. 3265 lbs no driver. sweet.

Ray, Stay away from the doughnuts and pizza for a few months. That should get you into the 12.20s. :brow

while building, i was hoping for a 50% balance.
only the hood, scoop and both bumpers are 'glass. the bumper bracketry has been milled to nearly nothing. there is more steel in the core support and grill supports that can go away or get milled. (i even milled the door hinges) there are no inner fenders as of now. probably one of the bigger things is that i moved the body backward on the frame about 1-1/4" since rules state you cannot alter the original firewall in class. the engine is back far enough that the oil pan is behind the drag-link :brow to look at the car, you dont notice any of this.
I'll be curious to see if it runs better. i'm surprised it did'nt pull to one side? oh well, it's a slow turd and i might not have noticed.

You've done a great job of keeping the weight down, especially when you consider the roll cage and re-enforced frame.
I'm really impressed that you've got 51.1% of the weight on the rear axle.:deal
Way to go!:beerbang
