Well I finally got my 409 for my 1962 Impala SS :clap. Its a 65' truck short block bought it from Dakotadave on this board. Now I just have to save up to finish the engine. I think I will be using Jim's 350hp build that he wrote up. The engine was a replacement block with only 1000ish miles on it.

the car is not ready for it as it is many parts across my garage at the moment. But as my wife puts it I have an obsession with a 409 so I am satisfying my need. I am just a young guy (35) but have always loved these engines and it will replace the 350 that someone put in the car. It was originally a 327 power glide SS. But a nice 62' 409 clone is something that I have been wanting to build.

I am sure that I will have many questions, I have been reading this forum for a couple of years and look forward to joining you as a proud 409 enthusiast.

Cheers :cheers and thank a soldier this fourth of July

Thanks guys-

Impala 4 dad I was impressed with your build for your Dad. I got my car from my dad and want to build a nice car for him to enjoy in his retirement, but he knows and comes and lends me his knowledge of hot rods. He spent his youth in LA building hot rods.

He told me that my 62' was my inheritance from him. Here is a link to my project Journal at hottrodders.com http://www.hotrodders.com/forum/journal.php?action=view&journalid=17833

Thanks 62ImapaSS. That car is already special as a gift from your dad. Keep up the good work. I like the idea of a project build website like you did too.

From one '62SS owner to the next, you'll be happy with that clone! That's what I drive, a "truck block clone", and it is very special to me. A lot of personal sweat equity went into my project, as many others here have done, and the results are all worthwhile :).

I just wish my Father were here to see the results. Both you and the fella building the 60 for his Dad are lucky guys. Count your blessings!

Cheers!
