He bought it from the guy that owns this very rare 1973 GT351 Ford. Hey says they made 900 of them over 3 year period.

models916, the first Mad Max film, starring Mel Gibson has a cult following and was an iconic flick for it's time.
The cars you pictured are indeed becoming thin on the ground. Original examples are very sort after here in Australia and now in the US.
My best friends Dad has owned the car pictured below since new for the past 30 years. It's a 1978 351ci 4 speed (top loader) XC Ford Cobra. I don't know exactly how many were built, all I know is that there weren't many and all the cars were numberd, this one is number 78 of 1978 :brow

Looks a little like a Torino. I like the roofline of the falcon better. Rear window has a slight upturn. The guy with the GT351 also has a restored 1979 Cobra version he never takes out. He told me he paid $80,000 for the GT351 two years ago.

There is a guy here in Portland that a few years ago was importing these cars from Aussie and selling them.
I have met him several time and seen both of those cars or ones like them.
