Impala with magnetic graphics, new Weld Rodlite wheels. Wouldn't the Impala look great with a cowl hood?? Or a teardrop??

I removed the full exhaust for the drag races at the Hot Rod Reunion in Bowling Green KY. This is a quickie job with a pair of Flowmaster 50 series. These mufflers were pulled out of the trash and were given to me. They had been welded into an exhaust system on a 327 Chevelle and cut out with a sawsall. I cut the ends off and welded on 2.5" three hole flanges for easy removal at the strip. Turn outs are 2.5" from Autozone. Exhaust is tucked and tight.

Cowl Hood, teardrop? NO!!!!! Not in keeping with the general look!

Cowl Hood, teardrop, scoop, all destroy a clean original piece unless they are part of a full fiberglass hood.
The last time I looked Chevy was not making new steel for 60's anymore. :bang

MAYBE some louvers, to let heat out, if done carefully. :dunno

Congratulations on new wheels that actually look good on the car, most of the new style wheels just look wrong, or are just plain TOO DAMN BIG.

Ray,car looks great, especially with the wheels. As far as the hood goes,I say NO.Like Robert,I'm too much of the purist, original look guy.I would say yes on a cal scoop if that's all you do is race it.But your probably showing the car, driving the car and doing a little bit of cruise ins as well.Keep the stock look!!!!. Ray, Car looks awsome.:clap. Removable graphics are great for occasional track use. I like the cowl hoods, I better since I run one, I am not a fan of fiberglass ( but I do love my 72 vette )and went with the weld on goodmark cowl. but I will be painting a stock flat hood also for options......I'm sure the car will get alot of attention at the track.....What times are you turning lately?

I think those cars look good when you pull out the high beams and duct cold air to the air cleaner.

Ray: My two cents a. the period correct hood.
b. I like Jim's suggestion of air ducting to the carbs from the high beam light area.

Yes the car looks great but I'm only the caretaker. Whatever happened to GM's sense of style? Maybe it's just our age but there are certain shapes that appeal to me and others that love these old cars. I can park a lawn chair at a 3/4 view from the front of my car and just sit and stare. I marvel at the style of these old cars. What kind of people had this design in their head. Thanks Dick for giving me the pictures of the different hood scoops. It really does give me some good ideas. Hood will be a fiberglass one with hood pins more than likely. Paint at least for a while will be flat black. My choice would be between the cowl and the period correct. Jim, I like the look of the air ducts in place of the head light also, the main thing for me is getting cool air directly to the carbs but you can have form "and" function. Thank you all for the kind words on my efforts.

Regards, Ray.

Ray,

Your 60 looks awsome ! Gotta' love those bubbletop's ! What style, what class !
The wheels look good too.

I do like the idea of funneling cold air from the inside lights.

I remember when I was a kid, and seeing the local musclecars with the headlight
ram air set-up. I was always a fan of that modification.

Ray, you know I like 'em pretty close to stock, and that is such a great body style. I like the new wheels, and of course the graphics, but I'd keep her just like she is in terms of the hood.

Looks great in front of the Hacienda!

Cheers!
