Harley-Davidson Impala SS pit cruiser ,,,,,,,, Have owned it for over 10 years. Old, dirty and worn out. Had to fix it up or throw it away. Noticed the rear quarter panels resemble 62 Chevy. It is then things got out of hand. 5 pictures here, 5 in next post. Roman Red paint ( $35 ) Crager wheel covers ( $57) Interior by Bass Pro Shop ($75) The steering wheel, shifter ( which functions, btw. ) and quarter moldings are old swap meet pieces I dug out of the storage building. The rest of the stuff was donated by Brian Thompson and Moes409. Brian also provided much labor that is very much appreciated. When I croak, he will get the cart. Would have taken me several more weeks and more money if it were not for Moes409's generosity. Note shifter extension boot. A section of20380 Gates. Correct number for '62 409 upper radiator hose. Cap , I found at hardware store. Will get a Hurst shifter ball at the next swap meet. A vacuum control cover will have to suffice for shifter for now. Will call K&N Corp. and see if they offer an air filter for this beast.

Now that is what I call "riding in style". I'd take that one to the grocery store :).
I always wanted something like that to zip around in, might have to take a cue from the Master Builder himself :). Good taste to go with 1962 parts!
Cheers!

Well you know Ronnie…you just might have started something here. Next spring you may be challenged by the envious Mopar and Ford guys on the green, with some of their own completed “cart” projects. If so…I think the bored out 409 cc motorcycle engine…with K&N’s would definitely be the way to go. (Grudge match with the quickest time from the 18th to the 19th hole).
What’s this “numbers matching” radiator clamp? Do they still sell those at the hardware store? or will it be an Ebay frenzy to get one?
You know….if this gets out… you might have folks placing orders.
Hmmmm??? Business venture??? with a title like ”Classic Carts with real Classic Parts” …(an Above-Par recycling company).
Really nice work Ronnie with great attention to detail.
It was a rough day until I saw this post...you made my day. :D
(Hats off to contributors Brian T. and Moes409 too):bow

Ronnie:
Good looking job. I can only imagine what the airline surcharge will be "if" we can get together next year at Norwalk. Ann and I believe Ron's suggestion that there is a market out there. Just think of all of us old guys who can't do anything but play golf and drink beer this would be a hit at the golf course. There is a neat town near here on the bay (Crisfield) where the retired and some not near retirement have been riding large golf carts around the town for a few years. Some are as large as VW beatles!! I know they would buy 'em!!!
You will have to do F**ds though for the Crisfield area and there seems to be a pack of them down in Tommy Nolan's area as well.
Bob Walker I have two small fawns that come visit my apple trees most afternoons and sometimes after they eat they lay down under a tree and take a nap!!!!!!!! Except when Max is out and "observes" them; then all hell breaks out around here . But the fawns come back the next day anyway:scratch I also have a neighbor who gets apples but I get an apple pie in return:D

Ronnie-
I do have to say that it turned out very well! I still can't get over how well everything polished out. I wish we had a before pic to show what we started with! And the original '62 dual antenna's are way cool!!
One thing you should do is post a closeup pic of the cragar's. I'm sure everyone would love to see the detail in them. They are great!
I also want to add that I have not seen Ronnie so excited to work on something since we met. He was like a kid in a candy store!!! I am so glad that I could be a part of this project. Congratulations Ronnie! :beerbang:beerbang
Now for that 409.....:D

Thomas, Funny you mention trailer. Seems like work leads to more work. Now I have to drag my 5x10 utility trailer out of a 10 year retirement and rebuild it so I can take the cart to the drag strip. Score card clip board to be used for e.t. slips. I think the cart will be limited to cruising pits and fetching e.t. slips,,, The one speed, centrifigal clutch would not be condusive to good e.t.s... Thanks to everyone for the kind words. As most know,, I march to the beat of a different drummer,,,, I couldn't turn down the chance to marry 2 famous names. Harley-Davidson and Impala SS. Hope thats the last crazy idea I get,,,, but we all know that ain't true. :rofl:rofl

I know you had a little fear of riding in the Chevelle with a Holley carb but don't you think building a golf cart is a little bit extreme.
:rofl:rofl:rofl:rofl
But is cool.

:clap Real nice job, Ronnie. The Cragar mags are too KOOL.:brow I have a RD-350 m/c engine in my basement. That would move that kart from here to infinity. It would even take care of the mosquito's on the golf course.:rofl Skip:)

I know how to make that RD350 2-stroke twin stupid fast, and I think we can get really close to 409 cc in the process.
