Very slick narrative!!! almost makes me want to believe that it's a real W car.

In their own words: "It has its original driveline components still intact and all the numbers, the engine, transmission, and rear are matching. It is a testament to the love, care given to this very special 1965 Impala SS over the years and it is a true rarity in a world of imposters."

and...

"The front bumper is part of the unique California option package and is just spectacular to see. The antenna is located on the front passenger fender another unique California pkg. feature."

Gee, NONE of the literature that I have mentions a California package !!!:scratch Oh I'm sorry, maybe the owner has this car confused with his '68 GT/CS Mustang ??? :dunno

just a simple observation here: the rear bumper guards are missing... From the factory it would have come with both front and rear guards when that box got checked

Also the rear body molding set is incorrect for a factory black SS car

ENGINE??? in a world of imposters???? Lets not even go there... I like the small block fan shroud, incorrect radiator and the 396 air cleaner. No balast on the firewall ???? Maybe it fell off... Intake is wrong, Valve covers are wrong, waterpump pulleys are most likely wrong, upper alternator bracket belongs on a MK-IV car, and that underbody fuel line arrangement...no comment!

Seems more like a hacked together original small block car to me! :bang

Gee Lou, the guy tried and just overlooked a few things. :rofl:rofl The road draft tube is sorta obvious. Not sure if 65 model tach was one size fits all. Did 340hp have 6,200 red line? I guess it did because the owner says, " Please be assured that this 1965 Impala SS had been accurately described so bid with complete confidence." But the best quote is ," let the pictures speak for themselves". It is a very nice car, I would like to own it, but the way it is advertised is complete fraud.

It is a very nice car. :clap But, many things are incorrect. :doh Definately, the wrong fan shroud. It almost hits the fan belt.:rofl Maybe the road draft tube belongs on THAT engine.:dunno Maybe it's an early 348.:doh Skip:)

Not sure if 65 model tach was one size fits all. Did 340hp have 6,200 red line?? .

The tachometer in that car is certainly a desireable piece as it is correct for L31 and L78 equipped cars only...

The L-33 (340) cars and all SBC cars (with factory tach) have the lower 5,200 RPM redline...

Here is the reply. Kind of dodgey.

FUEL LINES ARE CORRECT, YOU ARE CORRECT ON THE AIR CLEANER IT IS OFF A 71 Z-28 WITH A 402 BB, THE INTAKE IS A RARE MENTIONED 1961 409 NASCAR INTAKE WHICH ALSO EXPLAINS THE OIL FILLER TUBE IN FRONT, RADIATOR AND SHROUD GOOD OBSERVATION THEY ARE SMALL BLOCK WERE CHANGED DURING THE PAST 44 YEARS OF PRIOR OWNERS BUDGETS BEFORE I OWNED IT. VALVE COVERS ARE OPTIONAL ORIGINAL 409'S. SORRY BUT SOME OTHER THINGS U MENTIONED ARE DIFFERENT ON A CALIFORNIA EQUIPPED SS. HOPE YOU UNDERSTAND I AM ONLY TELLING IT AS I KNOW AND LEARN FROM MORE INFORMED CHEVY EXPERTS WHICH I AM CERTAILY NOT. THANKS FOR YOUR HELP. BEST REGARDS MIKE

:rofl:rofl:rofl

ALL '65 - 409 intakes have the oil fill tube in the front, 1971 Camaro Zs NEVER came factory equipped with a big block, The only year that Gen-II Camaros could have come with a big block was 1970 (396) if I'm not mistaken. The valve covers are eBay specials ,

... and I'm still trying to find original literature on that "California Package"

:rofl:rofl:rofl

Not exactly correct. There was never a big block Z-28, but the BB was available in the Camaro through 72, although it was actually a 402 in 71 and 72.

I stand corrected on the Camaro issue, I wasn't sure about Camaro SS for '71 and '72 but I knew for sure that Z-28 never did come with Big Block in any year.

Mark, the tach would be also be a correct 409 piece IF it came in one of the 742 (rare) 400HP (L-31) 409 cars.
