Has anyone else noticed you can't buy an AC PF35 anymore??? I tried to order 3 cases about 2 months ago and was told it has been discontinued and the PF1218 has replaced it. I checked with another supplier and was told the same thing, so must be true. The 1218s are a little shorter and have an antidrainback valve. I guess they will work OK, I just hate learnin' new numbers:cuss
I located the address for the oil filter study. Someone in another thread was wondering where it was.

Thanks for the link Ron. That's the site I looked at once before. I bet the Fram company hates that website! Im surprised the filter company's let that guy keep a site like that up. I would think the attorneys would roast him. :D
I recently bought an air filter for my truck and ended up buying a Fram because it's the only brand anyone stocks anymore around here. The difference was incredible between the Fram and the old one. (name unknown) It was so much thinner than the old one. I think I will be staying away from Fram air filters too.
By the way, what exactly is a PF 35 used on? Is that a spin on? I can still get the cannister filter from the dealer for these engines. It's a PF 141. I remember the days when you could go to any auto parts store and find a few of these. Not anymore. :( I have a hard time finding anything AC anymore. From filters to plug wires.
Damn new cars! :cuss They ruin everything. Used to be most people drove a small block Chevrolet of some sort or other and our parts took priority. Now...pfft. Make way for the Hyundai parts.

The PF35 is a spin-on used on almost all Chevys from about 1970 to about 1988 I think. And I am one that uses the conversion on the 09's, so I use the PF35 on just about everything. I even converted two old 6 cyl. chevy trucks with partial flow, and a F**d 8N tractor to use the PF35. I guess they will be PF1218 from now on.
I don't have any trouble ordering them from the local NAPA, but no longer can find them at Pamida, K-Mart, etc., and they are no longer $2.50.:cry :cry

What's the difference between PF 25 and PF 35? I use PF 25 on all my small blocks (except the 283)
I had heard of a taller filter that works too. Could that be the 35?

Yup, that's it! I don't know how much longer the 35 is. I have never used the 25.

The 35 is about 1" to 1 1/2" longer. The 35 holds about one quart and the 25 about half quart. Since I always change my oil so often, I just buy the filters that are on sale at Wal-Mart. Most of those generic filters are made by a spendy brand name anyhow. But your right you still can't get the canister filters there.
