Hi Everybody-----
My name is Mark. I signed up on here a few years ago, and hadn't touched my car in quite awhile, so haven't been on here.
I have a 1963 SS, Original 409 car, Black on Black stick car. 30,000 mile car, originally from California.
I had Phil Reed get me my motor......... ( Tony Shafer built it) complete, all correct 409/425 from pans to Carbs ( Thanks Phil) I still deal with Phil for needs etc. Great guy.
I've known my car since I was about 9 years old, and got the chance to buy it about 6 years ago from the second owner, who was also a friend and car collector. He owned the car since 1970 and had put 2000 miles on it. It had 28,000 when he bought it. It had a re-paint
( In enamel thank God!) back then and paint is an honest 9. Body completely straight.
Now for the good part....... or the part that makes SOME people want to kill me!
I did a frame on of the car, and am doing it retro style but updated!
It will have the correct motor, as stated, from pan to carbs.... and a few twists.
I did a complete Air Ride suspension on it, and 4 wheel disc brakes, and my 6 speed Richmond just arrived, ( with Long brand shifter)along with a centerforce dual friction clutch set-up. The car now has the new 2 piece aluminum Cragar SS 18 inch wheels and they keep it with the nostalgic look. They are absolutely amazingly nice wheels. I have 285/40/18 Nitto tires out back, with 255/45/18's on the front! Looks awesome.
If anyone needs ANY info on this kind of set up just get in touch with me and I can save you a LOT of time and effort on your install. I don't do installs but can provide free info to anyone who may need it, along with pictures. It is not as easy an install as they would like you to believe ( I am VERY anal) but with time and patience It wasn't all bad, and as I said.......... since I've done it, I can save you time on quite a few things that you need to do, to do it correctly!
With the 4:10 posi rear, along with the 6 Speed, the car will turn 3050 RPM's at 100 MPH!! ( 27 inch tall rear tires) Hopefully, I'll get somewhere near 150 or better out of it!
If you guys would like to see my build up as far as I've gotten, please post that and I will make a nice album on photobucket and share all I've done so far! Let me know and I will start to put one together. I have a mountain of pics from start to where I am at now!
Good meeting you all, and if the show in INDY Happens, I would hope to meet you all there. I should be done with this by spring! Keepin my fingers crossed.... the Richmond is not a simple bolt in, and the exhaust should prove to be very challenging to get 2 1/2 all the way back!
Thanks guys, and nice to meet all of you!

I live in CT. Talked to Phil Reed yesterday and he mentioned a meet at INDY possibly next year? Keep me informed, as I would LOVE to go. I THINK I should be done by then. Fingers crossed. Exhaust may be a big hurdle with the tires I have, and air lines etc.
I am also looking for another car. I would like a great shape 62 Biscayne to do a stroker motor for. If you know of any keep me in mind. A "done" 6 cylinder car would be great to start with. I don't want anything with rust! I would consider also any nice 63.....again Biscyane would be preferred but I would take what I can get if it is REAL nice.
I've had NHRA Stockers and Superstockers, but the 09's are new to me as far as what works suspension wise and all. I know Aubrey has been chasing that demon for awhile now! ( but on the other hand, Aubrey is also limited by NHRA Stock class rules as to what he can and cannot do. The cannots win out with the NHRA. I'm so done with that crap! May as well drive down the highway throwing rolls of money out the window and just leave the car home!
If anyone is near me ( In CT) and would like to get together, please get in touch!
Thanks for the comments on my car..... I will try to get some more posted as I can. It's been on the lift for almost two years..... pickin away at it as I have been able. Another 5000 just went to parts!
Where are you all from? WALKER, your from Maryland? Do you go to the YORK show? I had a car that was supposed to be at last years show, but sold it. Economy is crap and I got a good amount for car.... was a Super J car that was run since 1971 by a good friend of mine who passed away.... I had restored it back to looking like it did in 1971, but is was still an NHRA legal SS/JA car and ran .8 under.

Mark: I am from Long Island so Ct is not not to far and you always have good shows and big swapmeets:beerbang so I try to go to as many meets in CT as I can. Swapmeet buying can be hazzardest at times if you your not sure of what your looking for and havn't seen and handled the part or know the part No. Thats what forums like this are for so we can draw from each others experiences:cheers. It just helps so hopfully we can get it right the first time. I will be going to the CT Streetrod show at lake Compounce regardless of weather or not I will be selling or not. If the weather is good it's always a great show and a real old school swapmeet. Ken

I'll keep an eye open for you on the car and get back to you if I see anything. Judged a car show last weekend about 7-8 prostreets plus a couple of all out race cars showed up. All of them were awsome real tough class to judge. It was fun:brow. Ken

Sorry I was to busy to get any pic's. We had over 400 cars there. Classing in the morning and Judging buy 11:00. We had our hands full. The rest of the shows I'll go to for the remainder of the year will be pure observation and maybe I'll get some pic's. Ken

I looked at them and if I get a car may consider....
only problem is both cars im looking at are fantastic bodies.... one is orig paint 15,000 mile car...... dont know what Id do ..........( can prob get a close paint match?)
I would prob pick up the parts "just in case" If I find a car.... then gotta figure out how to get it all in a Suburban! I have a friend in VA that I have to see if he is near the parts, as he races all over and they can find there way up to me by different people going racing at Lebanon, or NED..... but the year is over too now.
AGAIN..... if anyone knows of a good 63 BISCAYNE or Impala let me know. Would prefer Biscayne. Would like a REAL GOOD car to start. IM not into Rust. My cars are usually western cars or the like.... thanks again for the lead on the parts.
There are some cars out there, but prices are still a little out there too. I paid less for the car you see I have in my pics, then these people want for a much lesser car. I actually answer one online ad........... then noticed the guy went in a changed the price UP 2000 dollars THEN wrote back to me. Told him to keep it an let me know how the economy treats him. Sheeesh. I'll PAY good money, but up to a point! And don't like Games like that.
