What are the chances of having weak valve springs on a 1970 SB 350 stock motor with 275 heads? And is there a good step by step replacement instructions for Dummies?

It's possible on any engine. A machine shop should be able to test them for you but of course, you need to remove them.
If I was going to go through all that, I'd buy a new set with new valve seals and have at it. It's also a good time to drop in that hotter cam too! :D
For info on how to do this type of work, I suggest the book, "How to rebuild your small block Chevy". It's a great book and you'll find yourself consulting it alot for many jobs!

I bought the book last night along with a couple others. "How to rebuild your small block Chevy" It even told me how to replace the springs, looks simple enough, but doing is another thing I am sure.

How can I be sure I am at TDC, so the valve won't fall down, I am going to use compressed air.

Mark the balancer into four parts starting with TDC on #1.(I use a small tape measure). On TDC#1 and #6 at at the top, next mark#8 and#5 are at the top, next mark#4 and #7,next mark#2 and#3.Thats the way I do It.

Ok dumb question but is there anything that shows the fireing order on the plugs I have had them in place for a couple years and haven't moved them and can't remember the fireing order?

All your help has payed off, the springs were so weak I could compress them together by hand! So they are being replaced, so far no problems.
