Any idea how long should the dipstick tube should be for a '64 340 h.p. ? The one I have is straight and 17" long with about 1-1/4" of that going into the hole in the pan. My dipstick is wrong (API rating SE stamped on it) so I need to know if the tube is any good either and the engine is apart so it's hard to guess if it'll be right once it's all together. Thanks!

My tube is 17 inches long. Looks like you have the right one. The bracket at the top attaches to a manifold bolt.

Thanks for measuring it Ron. It sounds like I'll need to come up with the mounting bracket you mentioned since mine is a bare tube.
