409 fuel pump

I need to replace the fuel pump on my stock 63 340hp. Did I hear correctly that this fuel pump is the same as a small block? Does anybody have any suggestions for a good pump or source to get one from?

CH Enterprises FAQ says:


Fuel pump pushrod is small/big block.
Fuel pump plate is small block.
Fuel pump is small block.


Have you tried any auto parts stores? See what they list, it might be the same after all.

This does make me wonder why I have 348 and 409 fuel pump part numbers listed on this site. :confused: Something else that needs further investigation...

BTW, if your pump is original, it will be the type you can rebuild. (comes apart)

That may be another option if you can find a rebuild kit.

I bought one at O'Reilly's recently. I expected to get one of those crimped together throw away type - but to my surprise, it was the correct screw body rebuildable! Check th website....it's listed.
