Just wondering what a 409 from a 1963 truck is worth. This motor is 100% origional. Air cleaner to oil pan. In the ballpark would be great. Any ideas? Thanks for your help.

Block, rods and crank same as HP 09. heads and intake manifold worth less for high performance. Oil pan ok, as well as valve covers and if 2.5", exhaust manifolds. Water pump I think is truck only? Pullys and damper probably junk. Pistons would be replaced anyway. If it's a good crack free block and it turns I'd say in the neighborhood of $350.00 to $500.00.

The 409 truck blocks are different than the passenger car blocks. They have the single notch in the cylinder that the car blocks don't have.

Truck 409's often have deep groove pulleys. In fact, the early deep groove pulleys, like those used on the 57 hipo engines started life as a HD truck part. More trivia.:D

I wouldn't dispute that , what I was referring to was the fact that heavy truck pullys had provisions for three belts, the extra one was for a pump for air brakes! At least the one I have!

This motor is completely origional. It only has 16,952 original miles. Any other ideas on what it might be worth? Sure would appreciate some help.

Thanks, Hambone.

Hambone... the motor is worth about $60 - $100... depnding on exactly which model, and the condition.
As for the engine... If it IS a runner... around $600 - $800.
That is NOT a car engine. Compression is 7.75:1 ( partly due to a difference in the block ). Still, it is an excellent place to start with for building an affordable, high torque W engine.
