Where in the world did you come up with that stuff? That is priceless. And, sound. I have a hour of old races on VHS, but no sound.

check my first post
I am uploading a few more today
you need to download the realaudio player from real.com
the other formats are too big for my site
these are just teasers, buy the videos from Jim, they are great to watch.
I have no financial connection with him, but just letting you guys know what he has.
BTW the poor quality of sound is on my end when i convert the vhs tape. Jims tapes sound ok.

Well... we won't try THAT again:eek:  !
That file for the "real player" is twice as big as my entire computer:eek:
Guess I'll just listen to the oooo's and aaaaaah's !

Aubrey, I could call you on the phone and let you LISTEN to the tapes. ;) ;) ;) Just to tease you a little, He wipes out a Thunderbolt, Bud Faubels old Honker car, and a few others. That was one mean machine.

Tragic about the narrating... but MAN... every once in a while you can hear those guys taking gears at more RPM than most people here would dare  :cheers :cheers
Great stuff :cheers .... makes me a bit jealous though;)

Hey Mark
Thanx for the great videos.
I remember this stuff from that era and these videos sure brought back a lot of memories......they were some exciting times and not a Honda in sight.........

Aubrey, the file for RealPlayer should only take up about 31mb. Surely your computer has more disk space than that. Maybe you should go to the RealPlayer site and download it. Just a thought.

02-28-2004, 09:16 PM
Mpris... THAT is EXACTLY what I did !
31 MB ?
That's INSANE !
No, no my computer is not much bigger than 31 MB:rolleyes:
Half way through the download ( after nearly 10 minutes of downloading on a VERY FAST connection ), it had my computer seized up solid:cuss
Hope my car has more power than this;)

Wow.... what a statement! thanks BJ for the wake up call.
I guess the world changed a bit after the sixties.
The boys in Detroit took a little nap in the 70's and the factory hot rod was never the same.

I didn't think much of it when I first read Aubrey's post but now that I think of it, 31MBs is damn big for that! I just checked the very old version of Real Player I have on this old computer and the whole file is only 5.03 MBs. (thats everything, the read me, samples, notes, a few .gifs, executable file and other assorted small files)
BTW, this version is: 6.0.7.380 It always says it's outdated when I use it but it works so I never upgraded.
I also found an even older version in my system that is just 1.35MBs in size. That one is dated from 97/98. It doesn't work anymore though...says a .dll file is missing or ??? Time to get rid of that one I guess. :D

I converted one video to avi file and compressed with microsoft indeo and the file still was over 70 mb. so I chose to use the real audio stuff since it kept the files pretty small however the sound and frame numbered suffered but you know everything is a trade off.
By the way these films are from titles
S/S AND F/X ERA

Wrench, Thanks for the link !!!
I`ll be ordering one soon ,,,,,,
Phil,,, I think this is our guy to video the convention and drags !!!
He seems to know what racers want to see !!
As far a Real Player goes,,, IT STINKS !!!!
The older versions were better to navigate and don`t have all the crap the newer versions have.
I used it all the time for on-line music radio.
I never understand these outfits !!!! Allways have to improve stuff that doesn`t need to be improved !!
Yes ,,,, it is true that the tech stuff on the inside needs to be up-graded but they allways add all this other junk and muckup the works in the process !!
Last time I loaded Real player it was such a pain to get to do and go where I wanted to that I shut it down and used Music Match.
This goes with all the other software venders too.
Sorry to get off subject,,,dq K.I.S.S. !!!:cuss

dq
there are older versions of real player on the net somewhere and your right they worked faster and better and your also right the mucked up the new one good.
it took me over a day to do just those little shorts and i am not a video studio so maybe there are ways to do a better job whith smaller files and better sound but im working with apollo 13 computer technology here
most of the good video conversions are done on powerful multi processor G4 macs and I gave up on apple computers years ago.

Ordered my tape yesterday and got word it was sent out this morning !!!
Oil,,, Video editing can take some heavy computer work !!
I got a friend that is into editing big time and when he started he would have his computer running a single project continuely for days !! NO BS !!!
Now with the new super fast computers and his $4,000 software the same size project just takes a few hours !!
I`ll give a review on the video as soon as it gets here,,,,dq

It might take a few days to get to watch it as I got plans today and the Portland Roadster Show starts tomorrow !!
But I`ll give a review ASAP !!!:D

Tom Jacobson's Old Blue '62 Chevy 409
Butch Leal campaigned this early factory hot rod when he lived in Tulare, Calif., in 1962 before selling it to Tom and Linda Jacobson in 1963. Jacobson, for many years the parts manager at Gledhill Chevrolet in Wilmington, Calif., ran the car in NHRA and AHRA competition out of Hayden Proffitt's shop for a number of seasons using a variety of carburetor configurations to race in a number of classes. The car was in storage for 20 years while Jacobson moved on to Pro Stock and Pro Mod competition. It has since has been restored to its period-perfect condition.
