The rear springs in my 64 ss are sagged and need replacing. Late Great lists rear coil springs 58-64 for 75.00 and heavy duty for 65.00. (that doesn't make sense) They also list a station wagon spring for 83.00.

Has anyone replaced their 64 rears? And which one did you use? My current ones have the orange sticker. I think the code is DE but not sure without looking.

I checked with a local spring supplier. He needed the wire diameter measured with a mike. I did not have the dimensions at the time and have not called him back yet.

Any recomendations?

Ron, one thing is for sure... "station wagon" springs are for station wagons... and ONLY station wagons:deal  !

Knowing the wire diameter and free length can help you make your decision. The SS cars ( and CDN Custom Sport ) came from the factory with shorter/larger dia. wire springs. They also had a lower ride height by about 1/2".
Those restored cars that you see that look like they're up on jack stands, have used the wrong springs.

I don't have the number, but call Detroit-Eaton spring co. and they can help you. I have bought all my springs from them. If you have an original part number, they can ship the exact spring. If not, call and talk to them and they will know just what you need. A good outfit.

Thanks for the info. The orange paper sticker was still on the left rear spring. The part no. was easy to read. It's hard to believe it was still there after all these years and miles. I'll make some phone calls Monday morning. I found the website for Detroit/Eaton.
