Hey guys,
Just wondering if anyone has some more info about 333 heads for me. I want to stick bigger valves in them, probably 2.06 or 2.19 intakes, not sure on the exhaust what they can go to. but i have been told that the 333 heads will take the bigger valves and hardened seats, and that they will work just as well as an 817 head with that amount of work done. Just want to know some factual info because i keep getting mixed answers. Also if you know of any headshops in minnesota that have worked with these heads before. Thanks
:D

The heads can take the larger valves, but you won't want to put hardened seats in for risk of hitting the water passages.

i will still have to run leaded gas then wont I? Or is there another way of getting around that?

I was also curious about valve springs and the such, any idea about them. All info possible on making these babies rip would be great. thanks

Unless this motor is going in a daily driven car or one that will be driven for long distances at a time to car shows or the like, then I think you should fair alright. You can add some additives each time you fill up if you're concerned about it.
The valve springs would depend upon the cam you're planning on using.

well 2 things i guess, im wondering more or less who i can get a good set of springs from, i realize im going to need to get a cam first, but i would like to start pricing it out. Also i would really like to stray away from the lead substitute. And hopefully it will be a daily driver. Makes things a bit complicated huh. haha

Old Kool,
You may want to talk to Phil Reed or Aubrey Bruneau on the phone. Either of them will give you the straight scoop on the heads that you have, how to modify them, what kind of performance that you can expect to get from them and so on. If youre intent in keeping you business in Minnesota, then you may want to reach out for Jody Anderson. I think he is out your way...

You might want to price some 817 heads as it might be cheaper to just buy them then the work required on the 333s. As far as valves go, the biggest exhaust you can use is a 1.73 I would go with a 2.06 for the intake. I'm no expert here but the port sizes might be too small for the 2.19 intake valves to have any benefit. You should be just fine without the hardened exhaust seats just put in some stainless valves (you're going bigger anyway) Bungy
