intake question?

will a 1962 380hp intake bolt up to 1963 340hp heads ? or would the heads need to be ported? would it make any difference in performance?

It will "bolt up" but you won't be using the bolts above the intake ports any more. You'll have to put a set screw in your heads or something to fill the hole. You'll also have to either run some sort of spacer, or 2 valve cover gaskets, under your valve covers because the "ears" for the bolt that would go between the intake runners will hit your valve covers. Alot of guys if they go this route will find an intake with cracked or broken ears and just mill them off. There is a more detailed description at <http://www.mr409.com/faq.html> Good luck!!

Another thing to note is the ports won't match up 100%, so you'll be getting some nasty air flow in the runners. The 409HP ports are rectangular, whereas the 348 and 409/340 heads have rectangular ports with an angled top corner, which creates some [undesirable] turbulence in the flow stream.
