NICE PICTURES! The old 09s do have some life left. Those are nice pictures, but if you want to really see some 09s in action, find out where Allen and the Blue Screamer, or the Wully-Bully cars are going to be. I just wish they were closer to the Midwest. Now these are class 09 cars. Just too bad Allen is so old!:D

DQ, I was at Firebird raceway in Phoenix a few years back. They had a nostalgia and show meet. 2 guys showed up with 64 Dodge Hemis. One was lettered real nice, the other plain. The plain car owner was going to leave his on the trailer, the other guy was running his car. They had quite a discussion. The one said that car was too valuable to race and take a chance, the other said that was what they were built for, and he was running his. He unloaded, warmed it up and took it to the line. Great launch. Really making tracks. Right in the lights, BLUE SMOKE. Bottom end came out. I'm not saying who was right, but the guy had just lost $12,500.00. The cost of a new Hemi. And, you can buy them. They are in production. The 409 isn't. I'm just as guilty as you, though. Hammered mine today. Hit it in first gear, and it broke the tires. Hit 7000 before I could call a halt to it. :) Loved it. I'd be right there beside you if I could. Just 2 different takes on these old motors. Both right, both wrong. Hell, who knows.

I have headers copied from the stock cast iron HP manifolds. 2 1/2" head pipes into Thrush mufflers, and 2 1/4" pipes to the rear. My exhaust looks like original pipes. I had them done in 2 1/4. Didn't think I could get 2 1/2" to go to the rear. I have a friend in LA who has a header shop. He made the headers. I have been tryijng to get him to do 4 tube for my car, but he has to have a car to get a pattern from. So far he hasn't been able to find one. 409 cars must be rare in the LA area. He would do a set for free just to get the pattern and make a jig. Dean left here to go to California in 67 to make a living racing. Got a job with Jerry Jardine making headers. He does know what he's doing. At present, he is making truck headers for Chevy trucks. He has a web site now. I had it on the old computer, not sure if I have it on this new one. I'm going to send this first, then look. I tried to do something like this today, and lost the whole damned letter. Not going to make that mistake again.

This is the link for Dean's headers. The funny car is the one we ran from 70-late73. We still have the record for Chevy powered fuel funny cars. 30 years!
Is there anyone from the LA area on here that has a 62-63 409 car that would want headers? First set is free.

I wish I was closer to LA. He could copy my Jardines. They have a hole near the collector and I am due for a new set.:)

AHHHH,,Fred !! I remember that story !!
If and when I ever finish this house and sell it maybe we can work that out.
Should take me several more months to finish this house, sell my 2 lots and the rental house then take a long needed break.
At that time lets talk,,,,,,
Remind me from time to time as that would make for a great vacation. Never been to Disney Land !! Want to go to Cabo in October so maybe drop it off on the way !!
The fellow with the red `62 at the cruz the other day said the guy who made his had to remove the fender to work his up.

I know I'm old but, talk about calling the kettle black. Your right behind me.
Got to bring you up to speed. Was out last Sunday to Us 13 in Delaware. Had a MANDRA race. Did a couple of 10.93 at 122Mph.
Went 3 rounds to the final in are Class A group.
Over the winter installed another 400 Trans with Rev valve body. Have to get acustom pulling the shifter as opposed to pushing the rachet. Goofed up a couple of times. Also installed a new 2 piece driveshaft from Inland Drive line. Has 1350 u-joints and is a 3 inch shaft. I didn't break the driveshaft, but last fall broke a ring and pinon :cry. and broke a U-joint.
Also http://www.wullybully.com is a new web site for Carl and Steve. Check it out.
