I would say they would be to someone. I keep hearing the repro's are no good so unless you change to something other than stock (like our friend dq :D ), used would be the only way to go.

My engine has all the originals except the 2 on cylinder #1. I seem to get more clacking/noise from that area and will be checking those soon as it's time to set the valves again.

If I find the new ones are worn/damaged, I'll be interested in a few. :p

Obviously no one wants them so you can put them in a box & mail them to me & I'll reimburse your postage as my little effort towards recycling iron & steel products.

Email me for the shipping address

Thanks

Bob,
I heard that same thing about new are not as good as the orig. I just thought if someone was interested in them, maybe a trade could be worded out.

Art:

I REFUSE to use any aftermarket stamped steel rocker arms!!! If we don't have any original GM rocker arms, we use roller rockers!! The new stamped steel are not the original quality steel and I don't think the geometry is right. We put some aftermarket rocker arms on a 63 425HP about 12 years ago and almost half broke out the bottoms within 300 miles!!! And no...it wasn't my rebuild!!!!

We keep all the original 348 and 340HP rocker arms we can find....usually hydraulic rockers are not beat up like ones on a solid lifter cam. Put on new balls and nuts and you will be good to go!!!!

That's my opinion......andI'm stickin' to it!!:D :D

The reason I went with the rollers is that right after firing up my engine the bottom of one rocker went kaput !!!
Figure after 40 years the metal is a little stressed,,,,,,,
Good to someone with a stock engine I guess,,,,,,,dq

Funny you said that DQ. I have a 327 that has broke half its original rockers used to carry extras and tools to change on the fly. Finally got some that work. haven't broke one for years. I theroized the rockers where "work hardened". Over time metel takes a "set" If you try to change the use, the new stress tries to change the set. It can't it breaks. Cause differant ramp rate on the cam and springs. Just a guess. Couldn't find anything else wrong. Heat probable played a part too.

Anyone ever had them cryo treated? Supposed to help.

My old 409 used to break factory ones regularly, but had a Crane F Nitro 310/320 solid cam with .580.590 lift. Lamar Walden once told me that was common with Crane's cams in the 70s.
