VIN info needed 1961 impala

The owner of the shop I work at has a 61 Chevrolet.
I need to know where the VIN number would be stamped on a 1961 impala.
the tag is missing.
Is the full VIN stamped in the car anywhere?

I don't think you'll find a whole vin but there should be the plant code and the sequential numbers. (ex: B123456)

I heard they may have stamped it on top of the X frame right under the gas pedal area (not much help unless you cut floor or pull body off frame) and also I've heard it can be found on the rear driver side frame behind back tire area somewhere.

These are only what I've heard but maybe someone else here knows for sure.

I think we will probably have to bring it into the shop and start poking around.

The vin numbers on my 62 stamped into the top of the frame right where Bob said. They were directly in line with the tranny mount. There was also another set behind the rear axle. This set was shortly after the frame leveled out, a little behind the mount at the front of the trunk. The rear numbers were not as deeply stamped as the front set.
