I`ve been kicking this around for a year or so and just might make it happen.

All the Cowl induction hoods for our `62`s don`t look right.

As far as I`m concerned the part thats missing is the two stock body risers on the hood.

So I`ve been working with someone to help build a cowl scoop that has all the body lines the `62 hood has.

Hard to explain but if you look at these hoods you`ll know what I mean.

These could be built for production and for sale if all goes right.

What I would like is feedback on how tall of scoop you would want.

Even if your not interested in buying one your feedback will help,,,dq

DQ,
When I was going to build my 62 Convertible, I was interested in seeking out some sort of Cowl Hood.
Since my car was going to be a street only vehicle I would have been interested in something similar to the 68, 69 camaro cowl hood, anything taller than that would be overkill for a street car.
But I can see where somebody building something a little more radical would want the cowl a little taller.
I would suggest multiple hoods with the a few different height cowls.

Yeah but then again that gets expensive to build and stock multiple sizes.

These would be fiberglass and not that hard to cut down.

I was thinking at first 2" but that isn`t an effective size other then a little more carb clearance. Would look great though,,,

Most likely 3-4" thinking air volume,,,,,dq

Those of you that are using a cowl scoop, what hieght are they?

Hey Guys!!! I have a fiberglass cowl hood on my 68 Chevelle, I bought it from Unlimited. I belive it is 2 1/2" high. Yes you are right, the cowl hoods I've seen on 62s never seem to look right. Some that I've seen look too long, like they start too close to the front of the hood. Just my opinion.

A friend of mine made a fiber scoop for me that is fashioned after a 1956 or 1957
Super Duty Series Ford Truck air scoop. It is about 24 inches long,15 inches wide,
it's fits between the ribs on a 62 hood. It is 3.5 inches tall with a 2.5 inch opening.
The end of the scoops is 2.5 inches from the back of the hood. It is period correct
for a nostalgia car.
I believe both of the Wully Bully cars use the same scoop.

I`ve been looking at this site as it has more scoops then any other site I`ve seen.
There are a couple that look like they would work on our cars until the one I want to make gets built.

The couple cowl scoops are the SC-116 and 117. Might order one just as a starting point and reference.

There is a nice looking Aero scoop also,, AT-475

Then the T-Bird style,, don`t know if that look will work SC-110

Take a peek,,,
