r57wagon's post about x-frame cars gaining in popularity inspired this post:

I've been toying with the idea of making a list of parts prices for conversation purposes.

Here's a few examples:

1 pair of NOS door handles for my '63 from LGC's regular parts list. (not old Gold section) I paid $22.00 for them around 1984. Today, you won't find NOS much but repro's are selling for $69.95 Not sure how much NOS'ers would fetch but probably $122.00 at least!

Here's a good one... NOS 1963 hood molding for, get this....$26.00!!! Today, in repro, $189.95!!! That is 7.3 times more! (and that's not even comparing NOS to NOS)

A few others without/without comparisons: (all LGC prices about 1982-84)

NOS door edge guards-$14.00
Rear valance pan for bumper-$39.95 (I believe this was repro when they first came out)
NOS left tail pan molding-$12.00
NOS Front upper grill moldings-$10/pair!!!
NOSParking brake handle-$1.00 (now $9.00 in repro form)
NOS Turn signal canceling cam-$1.00
1963 shop manual-$10.00 (repro) Now about $20+?

These NOS parts were still in the GM wrappers or boxes. I bet the people with LGC's wish they didn't sell all that NOS stuff back then. Just think if they kept it until now to sell. !?! :rofl

As for cars, I bought my 84,000 original mile, lady owners only 2 door Impala for $750.00 in 1981. What would that cost today? I shudder to think!

Do you have any comparisons to offer? Lets hear from you! :brow

Yeah, even used parts can get high. Outta sight!

Like the dash tach in 63~64 cars.

One of the dead giveaway's on a dash tach conversion (see them on Ebay all the time) is the omission of the lip seal for the tach ($5.45 at SCA). But since mine is a used original that ACTUALLY came from a REAL 409 car, it should be worth at least $50 on Ebay, right?

;) ;) ;)

Actually, you can have it if you want it Bob. I also found a pair of 66 Malibu emblems you are welcome to.
