A word of advice. If Fran and Fred ask you to go to lunch with them, DON'T GO !!
Just cost me over $80.00 in fines not including the cost of the lunch.

Wonderful day, bad beginning, but good ending.

Fran:
At least you only had to pay $81.00 The judged fined me an extra $65.00

Richard, what was the reason for the extra $65.00? The whole thing doesn't make sense, but that makes less sense. Did the judge look at any of your evidence? Or was it just the cops word, and you didn't get to say anything? Can't believe the whole deal. Was obviously a bad set up. The markings, that is. Cash cow for Ocala, though. I really do hate that. BAD DEAL

Fred:
I guess it was punishment for challenging them. I'm thinking about getting an attny. but my time away from home is so limited due to my father having a stroke.

Fred:
The judge indicated he could fine me an additional $1,000.00 if he wanted to. The original ticket warns you about this. So I guess I got away cheap.

Here's the link. http://www.348-409.com/forum/showthread.php?t=2431 In my job, trucking, I have to deal with cops and border guards all the time. I find almost all of them are very reasonable but every now and then you get an assh@le like this. :bang They say that if you give someone a bit of authority there true character will surface. :evil

Thank you Jim, and Jim.
Everything makes much more sense now.
Don't know how I ever missed that thread, I usually try and read them all.
What a day, I can almost feel what it was like just reading the story.
I would be Hot tempered too.

I just got back from Maple Grove and read Richards email on the $65 dollars. Richard I STRONGLY recommend you pay the fine and shut up. Because they're a bunch of azzholes and you'd just get screwed more. Trust me, I'd say/do twice what you's say do and get my azz in even more trouble. We agree completely, this was as unfair a ticket as you can imagine, SO unfair you just WANT to fight it. But if (like me) a reasonable explanation, complete with photos doesn't mean a G-D thing to the ***** (judge Frances), then anything else is fruitless.
Get me some names and addresses in the Florida AG's office, I'll attack her from that direction (your name would be kept out). In the meantime I'll make copies of everything and pay the -unt the $81 dollars, if I don't and get stopped down there I'll have hell to pay.
PS: sorry to hear about your dad, I hope everything works out OK.

Fran:
They gave me 60 days to pay the $145.00 or "immediate suspension of driving priviledge" The worst part is the record will show: "guilty of roadway-drive wrong side of" Go ahead and use my name. The State Attny Office in Pinellas County knows about it. One of the investigators told me I should fight it. He said it's what they call a "Cherry Patch", whatever that means.

It was a setup from the beginning. Skip the lawyer. It'll cost $$$$$ and even if you win (unlikely), it won't change anything. Instead get them where it hurts and report it to the DA and the County Commissioner(s) and anyone else in the county and the state. Enough complaints and maybe a cop or two and a certain judge might get spanked.

Rishard: help me with the address for Pinellas County office AG and one in Tallahassee. We've got to go after them (but pay the fine first!).
