I had a fella stop in yesterday with a 64 catalina 2 dr hardtop 421 3 two's and a 4 speed. He wanted to know if the outer carbs were supposed to have accelerator pumps hooked up. It also has a progressive linkage on the carbs. The problem he has is a hesitation when you accelerate fast. It will bog down then take off. Does anyone have any idea on this? It has a full tune up and the accelerator pumps seem good. Thanks Fellas! :dunno

I've never seen a factory tri-power set up that didn't have pumps in the end carbs. I would think the thing would fall right on it's face when you floored it if it didn't have them cause all you'd get would be air with no fuel.

Well, maybe I misread your post. I was thinking he didn't have the end pumps hooked up. After rereading, it sounds like he does have them and they are working, in this case he may need to adjust the acc pump rods to control the amount of fuel. It could be getting either too much or too little.

Thanks for the info, I will relay the message. Yes all 3 carbs have an accelerator pump. He left my shop and did 3 gears of rubber so it runs pretty good! Thanks again. Brian :)
