Checking valve spring pressures Sunday due to a problem of high speed breakup. Found that two valves were at 115 lbs on the seat! The rest of them were right on at 120/300 lbs. I shimmed all the valves to 130-135 lbs on the seat and 320-330 lbs open. This is with a Comp Cams XE 268 hydraulic flat tappet cam. Comp cams specs out the spring pressures at 125/300 lbs for this cam. I think that is a consevative number for a big valve engine. Also I ordered an aluminum rad from an Ebay store, http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=7912915959 . I have to install the air bags and electric fuel pump not to mention the super servo I have installed in the 700R4 tranny! I have been busy after work doing side jobs to bankroll the trip to Kansas City Mo. and the W convention. I have 1500.00 in the piggy bank as of today. I mow 2.2 acres with my Massey Ferguson tractor for a neigbor and cleared a building lot for a guy that's building a pole barn all after work. If this convention doesn't kill me it'll be worth a lifetime of memories! All this work may or may not pay off! I am looking forward to chasing the likes of Aubrey and DQ down the 1320' (or chasing my tail!) I can only hope I will clear the 60' before they are in the shut down area!. I may have DOT slicks on by the time I get to KC. I am a little worried that if I install the slicks that I will start breaking parts. How much HP, torque will the 1310 series U joints take before they gernade :dunno . Watch out everyone, I'm comming and I'm ready! :beerbang

I'll second that! If we can get photo's from the event, and someone to narrate them :D I'd like to do a tribute page on this site showcasing the event.
Of course, the more pics the better! How about the owners standing next to their car like LGC's had in their magazine? Some shots of the cars going down the track, etc. Maybe a few distant shots of all the cars parked together.
The photographers will get credit for their pics and I'd be happy to mention any/all names of those in the pics and who made it to this event.
So c'mon guys, lets preserve this 1st event. :)
By the way, Doug Marion wrote me and said he is going and will be taking alot of pics! Make sure you get in front of his camera at some point if you want a chance to be seen in the magazine! :brow

Fred, I'll be leaving Conneaut Ohio on the morning of the 13th Of Sept. Drive untill I'm seeing pink elephants, get a room and make the rest of the trip on the 14th.We have a room reserved for the 14th in the Host hotel. I thought it would be a good idea to get a good nights sleep and start fresh on the first day of the convention. :brow
