348 broken valve

i have a 348 with a broken intake valve,cracked guide and head on # 8 cyl. also can see valve contact on # 6. bought car with a rebuilt 348. pistons came from chuck scharf and a high performance cam wich i have no specs on. 379 heads.
what should i do just replace head? there is a pretty good mark on # 8 piston.
limited budjet.

Since you don't have any specs on the cam, you are going to need to check your piston to valve clearance. Also check the cleance between the valve guide and retainer/keeper. It is possible that the engine was over-revved and the valves floated causing the contact. Are any of the valve springs broken? Depending on how many Rs you plan on spinning this engine you will need to make sure you have the correct valve spings, but this might be difficult to do if you don't have specs on the cam.

still waiting for a used valve from one of the locals here. i suspect motor was over reved. everything else seems to be OK.
