Well, how much will NASCAR fine Jeff Gordon for not DRIVING to the winner circle or victory lane? I'll bet it's more than $10,000.00 which they hit Jimmy Johnson with. Any takers?

Didn't catch any of the race today. So, what's the deal? Why didn't he drive to the winners circle or victory lane?

Fred: Does this have something to do with the placement of all those bottles of different drink mfgs. on the roof of the car in winners circle?

I'm telling you, that was what it was all about. Gordon wasn't going to let them put the powerade bottles on his car. This is going to get bigger and bigger. NASCAR has sold rights to two different companies. It's the Gatorade Victory Lane ( Pepsi ) and the Powerade ( Coke ) celebration. NASCAR is at fault for all this. Corporate greed in this case. At least with Gordon, they can't get really nasty. Too much at stake there. If a rookie had won, or a smaller team, it would be Katy bar the door.

I knew something was up a few weeks ago when the winning driver (can't remember who) knocked all the bottles of the top of his car just before the interview.

advertising is getting way out of hand.
I think last year they were trying to put Spider Man or DR. Pepper on the bases in major league baseball stadiums. ( I can't remeber who the sponsor was for sure)
I don't know if they ever did, as I am not a big baseball fan, but I know there was some controversy over it.
I think it's great that some of these guys are not going to stand for it.

I am a huge Gordon fan as well as a lifetime fan of NASCAR. This problem has been going on in victory lane for quit some time. I am glad teams are taking a stand in support of their own sponcers that is where their money comes from.

NASCAR has announced there will be no fines for Jeff Gordon and Hendrick Motorsports for Jeff's victory celebration outside of victory lane. Gordon and Rick Hendrick got down on their knees and apologized to to NASCAR, Tony George, the Tony George family including Mary Hulman George and Tony George's dog. So much for standing up to NASCAR.

Both NASCAR and each of the teams with sponsors are going to have to work this out somehow. Money does talk, and that's what is driving this current controversy. If you just won at the Brickyard, what would your first thoughts be?

Here's mine: "Damn I'm glad I finally got my 409 together"

We can all dream, can't we?

:)

Cheers!
