Anyone out there want to buy a BackYard Buddy?

I put a downpayment on one at the GoodGuys show in Columbus and additional costs to get it north of the border are becoming too much and our dollar is getting hit pretty bad so the estimated cost in canuck bucks is way over the top.

$630 shipping and around $400 for customs fees to import it plus 15% taxes in Ontario, well you can see the cost is getting way too high.

I called Back Yard Buddy to inquire about cancelling the order and they want 12% restocking charge even tho they just change the name on the order and don't restock anything.

This hoist is their 7000# extra height and length to accomodate a pickup.
I ordered the caster set and the jack tray and total cost is US4600.
I put down US$2300 to get production started, estimated delivery date Aug 24.

If anyone is interested in assuming my order by paying me the downpayment please contact me at: bjcoffey@sympatico.ca

Thanx
BJ :doh

That really sucks! :(

Wish I could help but the closest I'll ever see to a backyard buddy would be an in floor pit in my garage! :D (seriously, I'm considering doing one)

What the **** happened to free trade across your/our boarder?
Seems the Canadian Gov can dump your forest products and other Canadian goods here with no problems,,,,

It`s time for you Canucks to raise a stink !!!!

Do they have a Backyard Buddy dealer in Canada ? ,,, dq

Hey DQ
Ya the free trade thing is there, there's no duties on this thing but brokerage fee is to get the papers thru customs (??) and the 15% is essentially Ontario's sales tax on just about everything including stuff you buy outside the country...........yeeeoouch!!
Raising a stink doesn't do any good - nobody listens......I could put the thing thru customs myself but that starts to get complicated and sometimes customs insist you use a broker :?
No BYB dealers here .......I guess I should have looked into the 'hidden' charges at little better and besides our loonie is getting beat up again so add about 40% more to the price of the hoist.

It would look pretty good in your garage there buddy.....back yard buddy that is.
