I'm heading out on the road with old rusty sat the 21st and don't have to be back to work until the 31st. I want to check off some states from my "I want to visit all 50 states list". My plans right now are to drive from Minnesota South on I35, West on I40 to the Grand Canyon. Then across Hoover Dam, then back taking a northerly route thru Pikes Peak. (I15-I70-I80)
So, anyone have any suggestions/recommendations on places to stop/see along the route? Anyone know of car shows, races, swaps along my route that might be worth checking out? Any tourist traps I should avoid? I don't have to take all interstates, in fact I'd like to follow old route 66 some of the way. All of the best stuff is usually hidden on the back roads anyway.

If you are taking I-35 south, then you will come right thru Kansas City on your way to Oklahoma City and I-40..
Give me a call......we'll try some of KC's bar-b-que......we can test drive some ribs before the whole gang gets here in September!!!! Give me a call at the shop tomorrow and we can make some arrangements....816-587-1109. If I'm out...I have several "convention" stops to make in the morning.....leave your number and I'll call you back.
This could be like another internet date like Fred and I had last fall!!!!!! You can contact him for any references if you like!!!! :p :p

Just wanted to say that I made it back in one piece. And also thanx to Phil for the short-cut. It definitely saved me a couple of hours. It was pretty neat meeting someone from the board, much less a legend like Phil. Even though he was very busy with the upcoming convention, he took the time to give me a tour of his business/shop and bs about w-engines and cars. I'll be seeing ya again in a couple of weeks. :cheers
