A very rare M/T from an old 62 Impala racer from Ohio has come home to it's new family!! Adoption costs where not to bad and a set of AFB's are in the garage waiting to meet thier new sibling. No dental work or broken bones has been stored since the 70's. Took only 6 months to find him!

Mike,we have a club member (aapromod) that has a crossram that never has been used.348 heads will not work you need 690's or 583's

From what I read the hi per manifold will fit on the low perf heads if the tabs are cut, mine are. The port difference is the issue correct? I seen that you also need to block a port in the FAQ, which seems broken right now. I read a few posts here that have had luck porting out the 379 head to match the hi perf manifold, pretty easy matching gaskets, marking, bluing and using a die grinder. Did it on two rats, I might be poor but I am skilled :)
Might not flow like a 583/690 but will move the air, plus I have five sets to screw with :) And for 400.00 vs the 2+k I can drop in the larger valves if I wanted.
Any thoughts?

Mike,do the 379 heads have bolt holes for the of top of the intake ports?

ahh thats what they mean by plugging the runner bolt holes in the FAQ. LOL and here I thought I get to grind something :cry
Will work will seal but not as good as a set of HiPerf heads. Last 583 cores went for almost 3k on ebay.YIKES!!!!

I am working on a 60 Belair 348 sport coupe. Need front fenders or repair panels for front edge of fenders above headlights. Any ideas? Engine is ready to pick up at shop. Have not selected a cam yet. Do you have a favorite? Car is going to be driven. Looking for a rough idle and decent performance. Who would you call? Is your 60 Belair a sport coupe?

Bill, ceramic coating on a crossram thats never been used thats a hard call if you put the crossram on e-bay you could get a fortune for it last crossram on e-bay went for 1,200. :dunno
Jet-Hot did my headers in silver and they look great ceramic coatings are easy to clean and maintain but there go's that old 60's look you wanted.
I e-mailed you about a AFB that was on e-bay last week the carb went for $180.another carb went for $257 last night. Is there someway I can contact you If I spot another carb?

If I did sell it I could buy one whole 583 head!! But instead it's going in the 60's on those lo po heads. I am porting and polishing the 379's and opening up the ex's alittle as well. Hey run what ya got and that what I got.
and either
CM178 Isky CH286 Hydraulic, power range 2500-6000; .510 lift; 286° duration; 224° @ .050; 110 lobe center. Lopey idle
CM180 Isky CH296 Hydraulic, power range 2500-6500; .515 lift; 296° duration; 234° @ .050; 110 lobe center. Lopey idle (Mark VI lift, Z-11 duration)
still debating. I want the rumpty rump, no smooth idle wanted here, and good power. If I wanted some sooth running engine that I could not feel or hear I would buy a Caddy.
locked in a 700R4 and 2200 stall so it should move just fine:)
Heading to a local scrap place this weekend to poke around in the axle section to see if I can find a posi 3rd member. Don't laugh this place has been doing scrap since the early 40's and I have brought home more than a few treasures, like the 454 AND 396 rat motors for 100.00 for both. Never know I just might get lucky and find a set or two of some HiPo W heads...
It's all part of the fun to me! :) :) :) :)

Hello Tic's60. What a find! I like hearing stories like that. I'd like to share a little info about mine. I picked it up at a swap meet in 1990 or 91 in Puyallup Wa. I saw it on the table and had to take it home with me. It has been a on a shelf in the garage since then. This year I wanted to put it on the car. I went and bought 2 Edelbrock 1406's and proceeded to mock it up. I had some crossram linkage I found at another meet years ago. It is made by Seigle (sp?) and was still in the box. Had to modify that a little. I made some mounting plates out of aluminum for the linkage bellcrank. They should work ok. Still need to do fuel lines, vacuum lines, and the water pump by-pass pipe in the front of intake. I also have modify the accelerator pedal arm in the engine bay. It needs to be straight. Time is getting short so I put on the backburner for a bit. I'll try to get pictures this soon.
